Memorial services for Frank David Kistler, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 20, 2017 at Highland Presbyterian Church, West Monroe, LA with Rev. George Wortham officiating, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe. A reception will be held after the service.
Frank David Kistler of West Monroe, Louisiana died peacefully in his home on Friday,
January 13, 2017. Frank was born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania to Clair and Agnes Kistler on
May 9, 1948 and was 68 years of age at his death. The family moved to South Brunswick, New Jersey in 1956. Frank was a graduate of South Brunswick High School and after attending Rutgers University he was employed by City Service in Cranbury, New Jersey. The company relocated to Schwartz, Louisiana which brought Frank to Monroe.
Frank was active in The Monroe Symphony Chorus and the Strauss Little Theatre. He was also an active member of Highland Presbyterian Church where he enjoyed fellowship with many dear friends. At Highland, Frank served as an ordained elder in the church and worked in many church projects. Frank was also a member of a small new monastic community called Contemplative Sojourners. His greatest passion was attending to his beloved animals. He was devoted to dozens of rescued animals throughout his life.
Frank is survived by his loving family in New Jersey and Virginia; Skip and Peg Heinz (sister) of Monroe Township, NJ; David (brother) and Alice Kistler of Hamilton, NJ; four nieces
Heather, Laura, Carrie, and Meggan; as well as one nephew, David; all of whom loved him dearly.
Frank was also known in the community and many churches for his contributions of special solo music and participation in other church choirs.
