Funeral services for Francis Stubbs Barringer, Jr., 81, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe with The Rev. Richard Norman officiating. Interment will follow at the Old City Cemetery, Desiard Street, Monroe.Mr. Barringer died Friday, January 8, 2016 at his residence. He was a member of DKE, past member of the Civitan Club, and usher committee of Grace Episcopal Church. He served in the US Army and was employed in the Oil & Gas Leasing Industry.Mr. Barringer was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Stubbs Barringer, Sr. and Pauline Allen Barringer; sister, Pauline Barringer Myers; and halfbrothers, Allen Jones and Jimmy Jones.Survivors include his wife, Billie Dixon Barringer; daughter, Susan Barringer Smith; son-in-law, Martin L. Smith; grandson, Martin Smith, Jr.; granddaughter, Madeleine Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Pallbearers will be Martin Lacy Smith, Frank Varino, Ralph Roberts, Rick Varino, J.B. Landry and Speed Bancroft.Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to service time at the funeral home.The family wishes to extend their special thanks to the staff of Hospice Compassus and to sitters, Bruce, Brenda and Frances.Memorials may be made to Grace Episcopal Church or the charity of your choice.
