Floyd Bruce Boughton

Floyd Bruce Boughton passed away on Sunday, July 19th, 2015, in Glenwood Regional medical center after a brief illness. He was surrounded by all of his loving family in his final days and hours. Visitation will be held on July 21, 2015, at the First Baptist Church in Rayville from 5-8pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 22, 2015, at the First Baptist Church in Rayville at 10am. Burial will follow at the Rayville Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home. Floyd Bruce was born on December 25, 1933, in Mangham, LA. He is preceded in death by his parents Homer and Evelyn Boughton and brother Alfred Boughton.Floyd Bruce was a follower of Jesus Christ. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Rayville where he served as a deacon and Sunday School director for many years. He was also instrumental in the early 70’s for helping to establish the bus ministry at First Baptist Church. Floyd Bruce was born in Mangham, LA and was a life-long resident of Richland Parish. He graduated from Mangham High School in 1952 and attended both LSU and Northeast Louisiana State College, but graduated in 1963 with a BA in Education from Northeast. He worked all throughout the State of Louisiana with jobs including the assistant clerk at the Richland Parish Clerk’s Office, title work for Billy Boles at the Boles Law firm, Vice President at First Fidelity Mortgage Company, branch manager of People’s Homestead, and retired as a loan officer at Bancorp South Bank in Rayville, LA. Floyd Bruce was also one of the founders of Riverfield Academy in Rayville, where he served on the board for many years as well as chairman. He was an avid supporter of Riverfield and its athletic programs. Floyd Bruce is survived by his wife of 59 years, Billie Jo Cook; daughter LeAnn Boughton Thomason and husband Lasley, son Billy Bruce Boughton, grandson Lee Thomason and wife Nikki, granddaughter Sarah Jo Brun and husband Andrew, great-grandchildren Ali and Tripp Thomason, niece Julie Cockerham and husband Timmie, niece Jane Carpenter and husband Ronnie, and nephew Randy Boughton and wife Trish. Floyd Bruce is also survived by many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. He also leaves behind man’s best friend and constant companion, “Sweetie Pie”.Pallbearers are Mike Sullivan, Noah Reeves, Jim Adams, Billy Whitten, B.J. McKnight, Carlton Clark, Cliff Dodge, Barry Collins, and Randy Boughton.The family would like to give special thanks to the many staff members at Glenwood Regional Medical Center ICU/CCU and especially, Dr’s, McIntire, Hammet, Sampognaro, and Koepke. The family wishes that any memorials please be made to the Saints Alive group at the First Baptist Church in Rayville, the Baptist Children’s Home in Monroe, LA, or one of your choice.
