Florent "Hank" Henry Hammonds, Jr.

A celebration of life for Florent “Hank” Henry Hammonds, Jr., 78, of West Monroe, Louisiana, will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., Thursday, November 7, 2024, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. 

Mr. Hammonds was born on December 3, 1945, in Monroe, Louisiana and passed away peacefully at his residence in West Monroe on October 30, 2024.

Hank was a proud graduate of Ouachita Parish High School and attended Northwestern University and Northeast Louisiana University. He then went on to marry the love of his life, Sharon Reitzammer Hammonds, whom he was married to for forty-three years and they had five wonderful children together. He gave thirty years of dedicated service to General Motor’s Guide before his retirement. Mr. Hammonds was a proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard. Hank was loved by all and will surely be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Henry Hammonds, M.D. and Regina Ching Hammonds.

Those left to cherish Hank’s memory are his beloved wife, Sharon Hammonds, children, Melodi Bennett Merritt and her husband, Kerry, Craig H. Hammonds and his wife, Amanda, Kyle Bennett, Paige Hammonds Carr and her husband, John, and Tye R. Hammonds; sister, Ann Hammonds (Ken Catrino); eight amazing grandchildren; as well as countless family, friends, and loved ones.
