Mrs. Kelly passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 19, following a lengthy illness. She was born on July 18, 1917, in Delcambre, Louisiana, where she grew up. She later became a registered nurse after attending Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in New Orleans. It was there that she met her future husband while working at Charity Hospital. Flo and Roy were married on June 29, 1940, and were blessed with 52 years together. They settled in Monroe in 1949 where Roy practiced medicine as a Pediatrician and Flo raised their growing family.

Throughout her nearly 60 years in Monroe, Flo was active in her church and the church community. She was instrumental in the founding of Jesus the Good Shepherd Church and School. She was a member of the Ladies Circle, the Sanctuary Society, and the building committee. She volunteered in so many ways, usually involving her love of and talent for cooking. She was honored in 1995 with the Diocesan Medal Award. Her greatest commitment in later years was to the St. Vincent De Paul Society. Flo and Roy prepared and delivered “Meals on Wheels” to the homebound of Good Shepherd parish. When the St. Vincent De Paul Community Pharmacy became a reality, Flo volunteered there twice each week for as long as she was physically able. She was also enjoyed membership in the Town and Country Garden Club and was a past president of the Ouachita Medical Society Auxiliary.

Equal to her devotion to her church and faith was Flo’s love of her family. She always delighted in cooking for her seven children, twelve grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. Large family meals were never too much trouble. They will be missed as much as she will.

Flo was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Roy Arthur Kelly, Sr.; her parents, Joseph Fenelon Landry, Sr., and Meda LeBlanc Landry; her brothers, Joseph Preston Landry, Joseph Earl Landry, and Joseph Fenelon Landry, Jr.; and sisters, Mildred Ann Landry, Elaine L. Martin, and Nina L. Breaux.

Caballero of Paincourtville, LA; sons, Dr. Roy Arthur Kelly, Jr. and his wife Margy of Houma, LA.; David Laurence Kelly and his wife Jeri of Baton Rouge; daughters Maureen Ann Kelly of Monroe, Gayle K.
