Funeral Services for Evelyn F. Baxter, 93, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 1, 2018 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Dr. Mark Fenn officiating. Interment will follow in the Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens in West Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Baxter was born on February 23, 1924 in Ozark, AR and entered heaven’s gates on January 30, 2018. She was a hairdresser and owned her own shop in West Monroe for many years. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe. Mrs. Baxter especially loved her Agape Life Group Class, who always loved on her even when she became homebound in recent years. She was a great prayer warrior for many who called her on the phone asking for prayer. She loved her family and loved to cook, especially gumbo and homemade rolls. She was always a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who was always there for all her family. Mrs. Baxter is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Hershel Baxter; her parents, Arthur and Katie Thomas; four brothers; two sisters; and one son, Larry Baxter.
Mrs. Baxter is survived by one son, Hershel Baxter Jr. and wife, Pat of Nashville, TN; one daughter, Virginia Pettis and husband, Ed of West Monroe, LA; one brother, Don Thomas of Haughton, LA; one sister, Marie Eaton of Salem, AR; six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Joey and Brett Baxter, and Rick Pettis, great grandsons, Cory, Colby, and Casey Mulhearn and Christopher and Chandler Pettis.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 P.M. until service time in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.
