Eva Yeats passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Sterlington on December 25, 2013. She was 88 years old. Eva was born August 19, 1925 in Swartz to the parents of Thomas and Agnes Cooper. As the only living child of her parents, she adored and was adorned by her precious parents. She was raised in a Christian home and never wavered from her religious upbringing. Eva was married to the love of her life, Otha O. Yeats for 59 years. Being a homemaker and mother was what she felt to be her lifelong calling. After her husband retired from Columbian Carbon Research Co. and children were grown, their interest became traveling and camping. The RV Sam's Club became their way of making many new friends and a way of seeing the beauty of this great nation.
Eva Yeats was preceded in death by her infant sister Mary Elizabeth Cooper, her parents Thomas and Agnes Beckley Cooper, and her beloved husband Oscar Otha Yeats.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Yeats and lifelong friend Kay Riddell of Homer, Lovis Ettore of Sterlington, Evalyn Ormond and husband Tommy of Sterlington, Kenny Dufrene and wife Kyle of Orlando, FL; her loving sister-in-law, Eloise Stringer & husband Wilbur of Germantown, TN; her "Sis" and best friend of 69 years of love, friendship and devotion, Margaret O'Kuma of Crossville, TN. She has 3 grandchildren, Brian Ettore & wife Angie of New Bern, NC, Nikki Taylor & husband Lee of Sterlington, LA, and Ali Cummings & husband Brandon of West Monroe, LA. Also, she is blessed with 5 great- grandchildren, Maddie Grace and Landrie Kate Taylor, Drake Joseph and Bryar Cooper Cummings and Bryson Tyler Ettore; as well as numerous precious nieces, nephews and beloved cousins; and an overwhelming list of dear friends.
Our mother was blessed to have had a much loved family friend, Charlotte Jones of Sterlington, LA to take such wonderful care of her each day. Our family was truly blessed beyond words for the love Charlotte gave our mother each and every day they were together.
Serving as pallbearers will be Lee Taylor, Brandon Cummings, Ronnie Jones, Jimmy Ormond, Robbie Griffin, and Shannon Corley. Honorary pallbearer will be Melvin Case.
