Eunice Scalia Banks (Andrews) was born in Monroe, Louisiana, on January 14, 1937, Lucille Forbito Scalia and Frank Angelo Scalia. She passed to her eternal home on Wednesday July 5, 2023.
Eunice grew up in Monroe, Louisiana. and attended Neville High School. She also spent many hours dancing with Clarice and Golda Roan School of Dance where she was an accomplished acrobat. Her small stature made her perfect to perform adagio combinations with her dance partner, Glen Golson.
In 1951, Eunice met and fell for a handsome young man Harold Eugene Banks. They married on December 13, 1951, and remained married for 55 years until his death in 2006. Eunice later married Frank “Bud” Andrews and remained married until his death in 2019. She always said that God blessed her enough to have found and married two great men!
Eunice was affectionately known by her siblings and cousins as “Baby Sister,” and later as “Noonie” by her grandchildren. “Noonie” was a fantastic cook and a very talented baker. When her children and grandchildren were growing up, it was nothing to see a Sunday table set for not only family but, for many of their friends. Noonie always welcomed everyone to her table as nothing brought a smile to her face quicker than a clean plate and a compliment on her cooking.
Noonie also took great pride in her baking skills. If you were one of her friends or acquaintances, it was always a pleasant surprise to see her show up on special occasions with your favorite cake or at Christmas time with a plate full of Italian cookies, fudge, and divinity. For over twenty years, Noonie baked and decorated many wedding cakes as well for special brides throughout North Louisiana.
Noonie was a member of St. Paschal’s Catholic Church for many years and later became a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church.
She was a former member and held numerous offices for The Columbus Social Club, Mayor’s Committee for the Handicapped, Women of the Moose, and The Professional Business Women’s Association. She was always active, going above and beyond for any of their fundraisers and community or charitable events.
Noonie worked at the Palace Department Store as Credit Manager for many years and later Central Bank/Chase in the Credit Card Division until her retirement. She loved her family more than life! She loved to fish, play bingo, play cards, and in general just go where the action was happening!
Noonie was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Harold Eugene Banks; her second husband, Frank “Bud” Andrews; her parents, Frank and Lucille Scalia; and her grandson George Banks Frost, and her siblings, Josephine Scalia Simmons, Angelo “Boobie” Scalia; William Patrick “Pat” Scalia, Roy Scalia, and Joanne Clethen.
Noonie is survived by her children, Georgette Banks and Cyndi Traylor and husband, Mark Traylor. Her grandchildren: Brandi Boutwell, Christi Traylor, Bruce Frost, Jr., and his wife, Shannon. Her Great- Grandchildren, Aiden Bellot, Macy Friday, Georgia Kate Boutwell, Corbin Frost, Evie Grace Boutwell, and Oliver Frost. Numerous nieces and nephews, especially Charlotte Moore, Ricky Lilly, and Cathy Cooke. Noonie is also survived by her sister, Laverne Davis and brother, Reuben Davis, and wife, Dolly. Noonie’s special “adopted” daughter, Irma Jean Wilhite Feeback and Grandson in Law, Eric Boutwell.
The Family would like to extend a special Thank you to Elara Caring Hospice and Noonie’s excellent caregivers, Sophia and Taylor as well as our support team, David and Jamie!
