Esther Rea Taylor Griffin

Graveside services for Mrs. Esther Rea Taylor Griffin, 95, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Griffin was born on May 21, 1928, in Point Wilhite, LA, and passed away on October 18, 2023, in Monroe. She worked at Thurmon’s Food Factory in Monroe for over 30 years. She always greeted everyone with a smile and closed the sale with her famous “Be happy!” She loved getting to know her customers and their families, catching up with them each time they came in. She attended Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her son, Rodney Griffin (Terry Johnson); sisters, Joye Byrd and Bertha Nell Owens (Buddy); “special” grandsons Nick Long (Emory) and William Long (Kristen); nieces, Beth Long (Larry), Becky Reeves (Victor), and Beverly Lane (Matt); nephews, Tom Canterbury (Linnet), Bert Owens, and Terry Taylor (Lisa); and numerous other great nieces and great nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jack Griffin; brothers Davis “Tuck” Taylor, Loy “Red” Taylor, and James Taylor; sister Mary Ava Whittington.

Pallbearers will be Nick Long, William Long, Larry Long, George Roberts, Jimmy Fuller, and Tom Canterbury.
