Funeral services for Mr. Ernest (Ernie) Eugene Ackley, 64, of Chatham, LA will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Greater Apostolic Church of Eros, LA with his brother in-law, Herman Lenard and Rev. Mildred Lenard officiating. Interment will follow in the Chatham Cemetery, Chatham, LA.
Ernie was a native of Watsonville, California and a longtime resident of Chatham, LA. He died Thursday, January 22, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital. Ernie retired with a medical disability from Premier Products as a maintenance mechanic. He was born in Watsonville, CA on May 31, 1944.
Survivors include his wife of almost 28 years, Shirley Lenard Ackley; daughter, Ontionette (Nettie) Truelove and husband, Johnny of Arkansas; three step sons, Curtis Risher and wife, Casey of West Monroe, Chris Risher, and David Risher and wife, Michelle of Chatham, LA; twelve grandchildren; two sisters, Pat Rackley and husband, Bob and Cindy Owens and husband, Mike both of California; and one brother, Doug Ackley and wife, Pat of Kansas.
Pallbearers will be Ed Lenard, Gary Lenard, Don Lenard, Kevin Rice, Jesse Waggoner, and Paul Rowls.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Lenard and Sammy Wilson.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
