Erma Roper Taylor, age 94, daughter of David Lee and Mattie Brewer Roper, was born on April 11, 1927, in Epps, LA. Erma joined Jesus in eternity on February 12, 2022. She resided in Tallulah, LA, most of her life and passed away in West Monroe, LA, after a brief illness.
A memorial service will be held at Highland Baptist Church in West Monroe on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at 11:00 AM with visitation to begin at 9:30 AM. Burial will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah at 2:00 PM.
Erma had many good qualities including showing hospitality, compassion, and generosity. She loved her family and enjoyed cooking and hosting delicious family meals during the holidays. Spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren brought her much joy. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years and after retiring, her favorite pastimes were gardening, crocheting and quilting, and playing games with her friends. Erma loved the Lord and was a devoted Christian. She was saved and baptized at First Baptist Church of Tallulah, where she served in many areas including teaching Sunday School for over 50 years. In recent years, Erma attended and became a beloved member of Highland Baptist Church of West Monroe.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by her children, Stan Taylor (Cindy), and Paula Jordan; 4 grandchildren, Allison Nokes (James), Taylor Moseley (MacKenzie), Boyd Jordan, and Abbie Taylor; 2 great grandsons, Owen Sheppard and Max Moseley; and one sister, Mary Bullock.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Taylor; sister, Halene Roy; brothers, W.R. Roper, Frank “Bo” Roper, and Lee “Bill” Roper.
