Emily E Williamson

A Celebration of the Life for Mrs. Emily E. Williamson, 54, of Monroe, LA, will be 12:00 PM Saturday, November 2, 2019, at Lakeshore Baptist Church, with Rev. William Smith officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA.

Mrs. Emily Williamson was born September 21, 1965 and went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 27, 2019. She was a member of Lakeshore Baptist Church. Emily enjoyed arts and crafts, cooking, baking, decorating and most of all just helping others. She taught for over 15 years in the Ouachita Parish School System at Ransom, Shady Grove, and Lakeshore. Mrs. Williamson was awarded Ouachita Parish Teacher of the Year 2000-2001. She was currently the Director of the ULM Child Development Center.

Emily began her career with an interior design degree from ULM in 1988. By May 1991, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education, followed by a Master of Education in Instructional Technology in 1991, both from ULM. She received her Family and Child Studies +30 from Louisiana Tech in 2009.

In 2015, she was recipient of the Distinguished Service Award by the Twin Cities Mayor’s Committee on Disabilities. Other honors include 13 Women Who Shape the Delta (2016), College of Arts, Education, and Sciences Award of Excellence Teaching/Instructor (2015-16) and Ouachita Parish Interfaith Community Service Award (2015).

At ULM, Emily was co-chair of the commencement committee and served as floor coordinator from 2005 to the present. She served on the Convocation and the Arts, Education, and Sciences Gala Fall committees.

Emily was devoted to Lakeshore Baptist Church, where she served on the nominating, finance and activities committees, prayer ministry co-chair, Family Promise of Ouachita Homeless Ministry, taught adult Sunday school. She was a member of the Children’s Coalition of Northeast Louisiana and Junior League of Monroe Sustainer.

She became director of the ULM Child Development Center in 2003 and continued in this role to the present. In 2008, the center gained a 5 Star rating, which it maintains today. Emily became an instructor for the ULM School of Education in 2010, and previously served as an instructor in Family and Consumer Sciences from 2003-10.


Mrs. Williamson is preceded in death by her father, James Edward Eaves.

Survivors include her husband of 27 years, Robert Williamson; mother, Merle Pittman Eaves Graves (Gerald); sister, Amy Eaves Todd (Dan); niece, Virginia Grace Todd; as well as numerous cousins, and many special friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the “Couch Potatoes” Sunday School Class at Lakeshore Baptist Church.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Coy Gammage- her physician, friend, and champion and the staff of Oncology Associates of Monroe. The family is also grateful for the compassionate care of St. Francis Hospital and Home Health, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care. They also wish to thank all the friends and co-workers who supported Emily and Robert on this journey.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, November 1, 2019, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
