Funeral Services for Elzie Fitzgerald, Jr. 77, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, August 2, 2014 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Bro. Eugene Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Hasley Cemetery.Mr. Fitzgerald was born on April 3, 1937 in West Monroe, LA and passed away on July 30, 2014 in West Monroe, LA. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the West Monroe Lions Club and the Shriner’s. Mr. Fitzgerald served in the United States Marine Corp, a member of the Veterans Consolidated Rites Association, and was a Veteran’s Advocate by helping many veterans. He was very active in getting the new War Veterans Cemetery in Rayville established. He is preceded in death by his parents; Elzie Fitzgerald, Sr. and Linnie Mae Fitzgerald; brother, Pete Fitzgerald; sisters, Marilyn Ziajor and Vernalea Black; and son, Elzie “Trey” Fitzgerald.He is survived by his wife, Bettie Fitzgerald; daughters, Vickie Soignier and husband David, Jan Branch and husband Paul; grandchildren, Melanie Welch and husband Darren, Jessica Dalton and husband Andrew, Jason Soignier, Stephanie Moses, Alex Fitzgerald, and Elzie Fitzgerald, IV; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; siblings, Yvonne McBroom, Elsie Terral, Jean Hendrix, and Robert Fitzgerald; and numerous other relatives.Pallbearers will be Jason Soignier, Randy Hendrix, Daryel Hendrix, Jewel McBroom, Jason Hendrix, and Jacob Hendrix.Visitation will be held from 5:00PM until 8:00PM Friday, August 1, 2014 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.Arrangements under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
