Elsie Juanita Murphy Sheffield

A graveside service for Mrs. Elsie Juanita Murphy Sheffield, 87, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at McGehee Cemetery in McGehee, AR, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA.

Mrs. Sheffield was born June 6, 1936, in Rayville, LA, and passed away April 23, 2024, in West Monroe, LA. She was a seamstress, homemaker and was a master gardener.

Mother loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her flowers. Nothing brought her more joy than to watch them all grow and bloom. She created beautiful clothes for all of her children. Mom enjoyed dressing her yard as well. She also wrote two blogs: Gardening with Juanita, and Stitching With Gerber Daisy.

Mrs. Sheffield was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Carrel Sheffield; father, John Avant; mother, Mae Washington; and brothers, Edward, Charles and Walter Avant and her sweet son in law, Kenneth Evans.

Survivors include her six children, Charlotte and husband Don Crawley, Debbie Evans, Lenora Evans, Frank Murphy, Jr. and wife Carolyn, Elizabeth Harrison, and Sandy Murphy; twenty-two grandchildren; and fifty-six great grandchildren. Mrs. Sheffield often talked about meeting her great great grands.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
