Elsie Jane Green Bryant

Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Jane Green Bryant, 88, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 31, 2023, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Fr. John Paul Crispin officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Sunday, July 30, 2023, with a vigil wake at 6:30 P.M. at Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd.

Mrs. Bryant was born October 28, 1934, in Rayville, LA, to Alpha and Christie Green. She passed away July 27, 2023, with her family by her side.

Mrs. Bryant was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America.

Mrs. Bryant graduated from St. Matthew’s High School and went to business college. She worked for Louisiana Machinery Company in the parts department. She was the manager of Louisiana Machinery Federal Credit Union for many years until she retired. She also served on the League Central Credit Union Board.

Mrs. Bryant loved working in her rose garden, reading, cooking and visiting relatives and friends. She traveled all over the world. She rode a camel at the Great Pyramids in Egypt, relaxed on the beaches in Antigua, West Indies; enjoyed the beautiful green landscapes of Ireland; and the history and museums of London. She cruised Alaska, Caribbean, Pacific Ocean through the Panama Canal.

Mrs. Bryant was preceded in death by her mother, Alpha Jane Temple Green; father, Christie Eugene Green; husband, James Huey Bryant, Sr.; two sons, James Huey Bryant, Jr. and Michael Patrick Bryant; son-in-law, Thomas Gray; great grandson, Thomas Allen Cestia; and siblings, Charles Green, Mary Elaine Seltzer, Jerry Green, and John Henry Green.

Survivors include, her daughter, Sandra Gray; son, Tony Bryant (Kathy); daughters-in-law, Sharon Bryant and Krisan Bryant; grandsons, Nick Gray (Amanda), Josh Bryant (Miranda), and Robby Bryant (Angela); granddaughters, Pamela Cestia (Tyler) and Holly Bryant (Jason Dent); great granddaughters, Katelynn Bryant (Ty Putman), Elizabeth Bryant, Caroline Anne Cestia, and Lily Crawford; great grandsons, Christopher Bryant, John Michael Cestia, and Layne Lowrey; grand dog, BB; sister, Anna Cox; sister-in-law, Barbra Bryant; close family friend, Jill Roberts; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Nick Gray, Josh Bryant, Robby Bryant, Christopher Bryant, Tyler Cestia, Jason Dent, Michael Fontana, and David Kamenesky.

The family wants to thank Ouachita Healthcare Rehabilitation Center for the care they gave to their mother.
