Funeral services for Elizabeth Mulhearn Slaughter, 91, of Monroe, will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday December 27, 2014 at College Place Baptist Church in Monroe, LA with Rev. Stan Wyant officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Monroe, LAMrs. Slaughter died Monday, December 22, 2014, at St. Francis Medical Center.Mrs. Slaughter was preceded in death by her husband, E. D. (Bud) Slaughter, her parents, Thomas James and Hazel Mulhearn, her brothers, Thomas J., Jr. and Edna Mae Mulhearn, Frank and Myrtis Mulhearn, Charles and Jane Mulhearn; nephew, Dr. Thomas Mulhearn, III; niece, Donna Lou Mulhearn Lynch. After graduating from Neville High School and attending Northeast La Junior College, Elizabeth worked at Selman Field during World War II, then Superior Lumber Company, before joining the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Department as a deputy in the criminal records division, retiring in 1981. After retirement she enjoyed working and spending time with her children at Professional Collection Company. She will be greatly missed by the ladies of PCC and especially by her dear co-worker, Paula Brunson. She was a member of the College Place Baptist Church, where she was a devoted member of the Joy Cain Sunday School Class.Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Terri Slaughter; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Rev. W. Richard Turnley; adopted daughter, Dr. Jane Littlefield; grandchildren, Mary Slaughter McFerren and her husband, David, Jim B. Slaughter, Jr., and Kalene Turnley McGraner and husband, Matthew; great grand children, Elizabeth Corinne McFerren, Jacob Ryan McFerren, Noah Frederick Slaughter, James Kennedy Slaughter, and Helen Marie McGraner and numerous nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Jim Brooks, Jim B. Slaughter, Jr., Larkin Mulhearn, Tom Billy Crenshaw, Mike Palermo, and David McFerren.
