Elaine Hogan Steelman

Funeral Services Celebrating the Life of Mrs. Elaine Hogan Steelman, 90, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 11, 2018 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Rev. Danny McIlveene and Mr. Kent Hogan officiating. Interment will follow in the Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA.

Mrs. Steelman was born on August 10, 1928 in Jonesboro, LA and received her heavenly wings on October 8, 2018. She was member of the Community Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA. Mrs. Steelman graduated from LSU Nursing School on October 19, 1948. She worked for 35 years in the Neonatal Unit at EA Conway Hospital. While working in the unit she was very influential in writing the procedure and policy handbook for the unit. Mrs. Steelman is preceded in death by her husband, James A. Steelman.

Survivors include her daughter, Janet Sandifer and husband, Dale; son, Jerry Steelman and wife, Linda; grandchildren, Marion Williams, Jennifer Nichols, Jodie King, Jim Steelman, Angel Steelman, and Jessica McDonough; great grandchildren, Justin Ponthieux, Grant Williams, Harrison Williams, Mason Nichols, Jacob McDonough, Haynes King, Megan McDonough, Maddie Nichols, Steelie King, Naomie Steelman, Sydnie Steelman, Jade Douglas, Sierra Clem, Jacques Vandersteen, Zane Vandersteen, and Jessica Vandersteen; and great-great grandchild, Sage Anthony.

Pallbearers will be Haynes King, Justin Ponthieux, Mason Nichols, Grant Williams, Harrison Williams, and Jim Steelman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Hogan, Kent Hogan, Eddie Hogan, Jeff Nichols and J.T. McDonough.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Aime Hospice Group and to Mrs. Steelman’s Sitter, Margaret Finister for all the love and care that was given.
