Effie Walters Whitfield

Funeral service for Mrs. Effie Walters Whitfield, 93, of Monroe, LA, will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 24, 2021, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Brian Mercer officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe.
Mrs. Whitfield was born on June 21, 1928, in Gilbert, LA, and passed away on September 22, 2021, in Monroe. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Monroe. Mrs. Whitfield worked at JC Penney for numerous years in all different departments. She worked in the furniture department where in one year she sold more furniture than anyone else in all the JC Penney stores and she also worked in the Fine Jewelry Department before retiring in 1999. After retirement she and her husband enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family.
Survivors include her husband of 71 years, William A. Whitfield III; children, Peggy Wiltcher and husband Tommy, Nancy Epperson and husband Kenneth, Billie Bryan, and husband Mark; grandchildren, Dustin Wiltcher and wife Ashley, Niki Bryan McKinnis, Kevin Blake Bryan, David Epperson, Elysia Epperson Reineck and husband Ryan, and Matthew S. Epperson and wife Amy; and great grandchildren, Savannah Wiltcher and Charles M. Epperson.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the mausoleum.
Memorials may be sent to the Shriners Hospital in Shreveport, LA.
