Funeral services for Edwin D. Yancey, 87 of Rayville, LA, will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015, in the Chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Rayville with Rev. John Kavanaugh officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, Monroe, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Rayville. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, the 10th of September, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of Rayville.Ed Yancey died September 6, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in Monroe.He was born May 6, 1928. He was preceded in death by his parents, William L. Yancey, Sr., and Grace Denham Yancey, and his brother William L. Yancey, Jr.Ed was co-owner and worked for over 50 years at Yancey’s HealthMart Pharmacy in Rayville. One of his joys as a pharmacist was to serve as advisor to NLU pharmacy interns who trained at the pharmacy. He was a member of the Fifth District Pharmaceutical Association and the Louisiana Pharmacists’ Association. He was a long-time member of the Rayville United Methodist Church.He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Betsy Anderson Yancey; nephews Langston Yancey and wife Maggie Yancey, Read Yancey, DeSha Sims and wife Kara Watson Sims; nieces Martha Ellen Cox and husband Steven Cox, and Chandler Sims Chang and husband Steven Chang. Survivors also include sisters-in-law, Beverly Yancey and Nelrose Sims and 5 great nieces; Katie Yancey Avabie, Erin Yancey Adkins, Taylor Yancey, Yancey Cox, and Macy Cox, and 3 great nephews; Dominic Chang, Anderson Chang, and Watson Sims.The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Ronald Hubbard and the staffs of St. Francis Hospital and St. Joseph’s Nursing Home for their special care of Mr. Yancey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rayville United Methodist Church.
