Edward Louis Shoemaker

Funeral Services for Mr. Edward Louis Shoemaker, 83, of Swartz, LA, will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 6, 2021, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, with Fr. Frank Coens officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Ed was born February 16, 1938 and passed away on March 29, 2021. He graduated from Neville High School. Mr. Ed served in the United States Air Force. He was employed with Green Brothers Dairy (1960-1962), Columbian Chemicals, as an industrial electrician, which later became Freeport-McMoran (1962-1999), from which he retired as Operations Manager. Mr. Ed then continued as an independent contractor (1999-2021), a position which he held until his death, culminating a total of 58 years with the same facility. He was a charter member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Mr. Ed was a Fourth Degree Knight of Knights of Columbus, a member of West Ouachita Senior Center serving as a member of the advisory board, Boy Scout Leader of Pack 174, and OCAW Treasurer.

His hobbies included being a master gardener, hunting, line dancing, and participating as a charter member of WOSC “Broadway Wannabes”.

He is preceded in death by parents, Edward L. Shoemaker and Lula Mary Basco Shoemaker; wife, Geraldine D. Shoemaker; daughter, Rosemary S. Manchester; grandson, Dean E. White; granddaughter, Alisha G. Purvis; and sister, Shirley Mann.

Survivors include children, Debra Jeanne McDill, Adrienne Joyce Wilson (Phillip), Brian Delery Shoemaker, Rena Ann Shoemaker (Mona); fiancée, Ginger Hicks; sister, Mildred Balch (Bud); goddaughter, Christina Drebber; 18 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Devereux Jr, Derrick Devereux, Edward Purvis, David Purvis Jr, Robert Shoemaker, Brian Shoemaker Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kyle Kulp and Trey Garcia.

Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, April 5, 2021, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe.
