Funeral services for Edward Leo Earl, 77, of Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Monroe with Bishop Ted Coenen and Dr. David Boyle officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mr. Earl was born November 17, 1932 in Franklin Parish and passed away July 25, 2010 in Monroe, LA. He served four years in the United States Air Force and spent 26 months in Okinawa during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired captain of 20 years for the Monroe City Police Department and was the founder and owner of Leo Earl Transmission, established in 1964. He loved and he was loved.
Mr. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Madison Earl and Georgia Earl Allen; and one sister, Margie Funderburk.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-four years, Vera Mason Earl; children, Eddie Earl and wife Penney of Baskin, Donna Earl Chandler and husband Steve of Calhoun, and Doris Earl Porter and husband Dickey of Eros; one brother, Dale Earl and wife Jan of West Monroe; two sisters, Ada Killingsworth of Tallulah, and Nellie Warren of Winnsboro; one sister-in-law, Charlotte Killian and husband Buddy of Monroe; 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Josh Chandler, Jacob Chandler, Ethan Chandler, Ryan Earl, Derek Earl, and John Thomas Searcy. Honorary pallbearers will be President Pena, Walker Ross, Bill Johnston, Dixon Abel, Dan Darnell, President George Love.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 27, 2010, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gary Jones, Dr. Rezaul Islam, and the nurses and staff of St. Francis Medical Center.
