Edward Lee Hochenedel, III, 70, died September 5, 2014 in Jefferson, Louisiana. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Noon at St. Paschal Catholic Church in West Monroe, Louisiana. Entombment will follow at the Mausoleum at St. Paschal cemetery.Possessing a lively and adventuresome spirit, Pete, as he was known to family and friends, began his journey of life being born October 20, 1943 in Monroe, Louisiana. He was the second child of Edward Lee and Miriam Hochenedel, Jr. of West Monroe. In 1961, Pete graduated from Crossett High School (Crossett, Arkansas) then received Honorable Discharge from the United States Army – 2nd Armored Division, in 1967, after serving three years active and four years inactive reserves. His time of service was spent mostly in the USA: Ft. Hood Texas, Ft. Gordon Georgia, Ft. Eustis/Norfolk Virginia, but also was stationed in Europe (Germany & France).Pete earned his Bachelor of Science, Personnel Management from LSU, Baton Rouge, in 1970, and in 1972 received his Master of Business Administration, Data Processing from Northeast Louisiana University, Monroe.Recruited by Chilton Corporation (Dallas, Texas) in 1972, Pete rose to Divisional Vice President overseeing Credit Bureau offices in 18 states ranging from Boston to Honolulu. In 1986 the company was sold and new opportunities presented themselves. For the next 5 years he had an import/export business with a partner in Brisbane, Australia and dabbled in real estate investments. Ultimately, by 1992, he dared to experience “life re-imagined” when he and his bride developed Maison-Bayou, a bed and breakfast plantation complete with cabins, horse riding stables and a multitude of feathered and furry friends. Located on 55 acres in Jefferson, Texas, for the next 15 years, Pete brought his own special flare to small town living until selling the property in 2007. After two years of exploration from the Gulf Coast of Texas to the Southernmost Point in Key West Florida, in 2009 Pete and his wife discovered their little slice of paradise and settled into retirement in Eden Isles, Slidell, Louisiana.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Liver Foundation or Canon Hospice, Northshore.
