Funeral Services for Mrs. Earline Dowdy Thompson, 88, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Burdeaux and Rev. Rick McPhearson officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.Mrs. Thompson was born on October 12, 1926, in West Monroe, LA to Earl and Maude Dowdy. She was the eldest of 4 siblings, three of which are deceased, Tommy Dowdy, Eugene Dowdy, and Vernon Dowdy. Mrs. Thompson is also preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Thompson. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member until her failing health precluded her from attending church weekly. Mrs. Thompson loved her church family and was a dedicated member who loved the Lord. Survivors include her children, Charles Dykes and wife, Barbara, Billie Arrant, and Debbie McManus and husband, Ronnie all of West Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Slade Dykes and wife, Michelle, Amber Robertson and husband, Ron and Krystal McManus; great grandchildren, Ryan and Rylee Dykes and Elle Robertson; brother, Glen Dowdy; and numerous nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Slade Dykes, Ryan Dykes, Ron Robertson, and Gerald Griggs.In lieu of flowers, memorials or contributions may be made to the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until Service Time on Wednesday.The family wishes to convey their sincerest gratitude to the nurses and staff of Ruston Nursing Home and Rehab for the compassionate care given to their mother.
