Services to celebrate the life of Dyana Georgette Haik, 61, of Monroe, LA will be held at 5:00 PM Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Monroe with the Rev. Dale Farley officiating. There will be a reception immediately following the memorial service, also at Messiah Lutheran Church.
Dyana was born August 17th, 1950 in Bogalusa, La. She passed away June 28, 2012 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA. Dyana completed her pharmacy degree at the University of Arkansas Medical Services in Little Rock, AR. She practiced as a licensed pharmacist until she developed an interest in computers. She became a computer programmer at the National Center for Toxicological Research in Pine Bluff, AR. From there she moved to Atlanta, GA to become a project manager at the Center for Disease Control. Eventually she moved back to Louisiana, working at CenturyTel in Monroe and then becoming a licensed optician at Haik Humble Eye Center. Her latest project was crocheting hats for the children at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Dyana loved to travel and read. She was an avid lover of the color purple and all things dark chocolate.
Dyana is survived by her son, James Raymond Carroll and his wife, Amy Curry Carroll; her grandchildren, James Coleson and Taylor Brooks Carroll; her mother, Ethel Haik; her sister, Mel Haik; her brothers, Raymond Haik and wife, Karen; and John Haik and wife, Judith “Skippy”; her nieces, Lee Newville, Toni Newville and husband, Anthony DiGiallonardo; Adrienne Haik, and Lillian Smith and husband, Gregory; and her friend and caretaker, Virginia Gayle.
Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
