Memorial services for Dudley Ray Brown, 73, of Sterlington, will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Gateway Assembly of God Church with Pastor Barry Brister officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until service time at the church.
Mr. Brown was born August 14, 1944, in Jefferson City, MO, and died Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Avalon Place in Monroe. He was a United States Navy veteran and a retired police officer. Mr. Brown enjoyed hunting, fishing, boxing, playing pool, darts, gun competitions, chess, and dominoes.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his father, Dudley A. Brown; mother, Mary Virginia Wilson; stepfather, Clarence Wilson; son, Kyle Ray Brown; daughter, Amy Schaefer; brother, Dudley Allen “Sonny” Brown; and sister, Mary Longbine.
Survivors include his wife, Betty R. Brown; children, James Lee Johnson, Kelsey Ray Brown, Shawn Ray Brown, Shane Ray Brown, Donna Michelle Johnson, and Sonja Rae Brown; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Eddie Edward Brown, Robert Wilson, and Larry Wilson; sisters, Loraine Reader, Rose Helzer, Sharon Goswami, Dolly Hall, Patsy Helton, and Ollie Faye Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
