Dr. Ben Harrison, 61, of Monroe, died the morning of January 1, 2018 after a long, courageous fight against cancer.
A lifelong resident of Monroe, Dr. Harrison is loved by many, and has touched the lives of many more throughout his 32-year career in medicine.
After graduating from Neville High School in ’74, Ben earned a bachelor’s degree from NLU in ‘78. He attended LSUS Medical School, and completed his residency at the Medical College of Georgia.
After becoming a Board-certified Anesthesiologist, Dr. Harrison returned to practice medicine, and to raise a family in his hometown.
Ben is remembered for his kind generosity, and for his incredible attention to detail.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Annette Nelson Harrison; Sons, Andrew Stuart Harrison with his wife, Alyse Lambert Harrison, and Will Rion Harrison; Parents, R. Benjamin Harrison and Irma Lee Rowland Harrison; Sisters, Stacy Alexander with her husband, Dr. James Alexander, and Lee Ann Boyd with her husband, Rob Boyd; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services celebrating Dr. Harrison’s life will be held at noon, Friday, January 5, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Monroe, LA with Rev. Lynn Malone officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors from 10:30 to noon in the church parlor.
