Beloved husband and father, Dr. Kenneth Earl Clow, 69, of Downsville, LA, went to be with our Lord on November 22, 2018. He was born on September 7, 1949, in Taylor, MO, and retired from the University of Louisiana Monroe’s College of Business and Social Sciences in May 2018 as Professor Emeritus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest David Clow and Florence Coleman Clow Bailey; and a brother, Richard. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Susan Patterson Hatcher Clow; sons, Dallas of San Diego, CA, Wes and Tiffany of Clear Lake Shores, TX, Tim and Heather of Bentonville, AR, and Roy Hatcher of Fayetteville, AR; and grandchildren: Jackson, Harper, Morgan, Madelyn, Ella, and Jace; brothers, David and Alice, Virgil and Marcia, and Phillip and Linda Clow, all of Palmyra, MO; four brothers-in-law, Ron and Diane Patterson of Colorado Springs, CO, Steve Patterson and Beverly Slavens of Arkadelphia, AR, and David and Lucie Ann Patterson of Richmond, TX; and various nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He graduated in 1967 from Palmyra High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army in February 1968. He served three tours in Vietnam for 18 months as a medic, and afterwards enrolled at Andrews University. After various occupations of teaching and pastoring, he started a janitorial business which became the largest company of its kind in northwest Arkansas. He returned to school and obtained MBA and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Arkansas Fayetteville in 1990 and 1992. He has been an MBA director, professor, dean, and endowment research chair at various universities including Pittsburg State University in Kansas, University of NC Pembroke, and ULM from 2002. He authored more than 250 academic publications, and ten textbooks with 15 revisions which are used in over 250 colleges and by more than 500,000 students. His passions were teaching, research, St. Louis Cardinal baseball, and tractors.
Visitation for Dr. Clow will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, November 25, 2018, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe LA. Funeral services will be following at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, with Steve Patterson officiating.
