Funeral services for Dr. Jose M. “Dr. Cris” Crisostomo, 80, of Monroe, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 27, 2010, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe with Msgr. Edmund Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Dr. Cris was born on October 20, 1929 in the Philippines and passed away peacefully at home in Monroe, LA with his family on March 24, 2010.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Maria; and son, Joey.
Survivors include his son, Patrick and wife, Lauren, and their daughters, Alex and Annie; and his dear friends, David and Alicia Wade.
Upon becoming a physician in 1960, Dr. Cris set out on a journey alone from the Philippines to New Orleans to pursue the American Dream. From there he spent most of his career as a physician at LSU E.A. Conway Medical Center. Upon retiring from E.A. Conway he continued to practice medicine at the Monroe Mental Health Center in Monroe, LA until he became ill at age 79.
Dr. Cris was passionate about working and enjoyed photography, fishing, gardening and most of all helping other people. He had a unique ability to be the same kind man every day no matter what challenges he may have been facing at the time.
Pallbearers will be William Love, Dan Bounds, Mark Debord, Dr. Roy Ragsdall, Dr. Roy Braswell, and Phillip Morris.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
His family would like to give a special thanks to his co-workers at the Monroe Mental Health Center for being so supportive to him throughout the battle with his illness as well as the staff at Southern Care Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
