Funeral services for Dr. Earl “Les” Tarver, Jr. will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, August 16, 2010 at First Baptist Church of West Monroe with Dr. John Avant and Dr. Dennis Swanberg officiating. There will be an interment at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
He graduated from Neville High School, graduated from Northeast Louisiana University with a BS in Pre-Dentistry, and graduated from LSU School of Dentistry with a DDS Degree.
Dr. Tarver passed away Friday, August 13, 2010. He was a member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe. He was on the Board of Directors for the LA Purchase Gardens and Zoo, a member and chairman of the Ducks Unlimited Sponsor’s Committee, the past president of the Bayou Desiard Men’s Golf Association, a coach for the Monroe Youth Baseball, past president of the Board of Directors for Neville Alumni and Friends, and was the Neville Alumni of the year in 2004.
Les was a general dentist, former president and member of the Northeast LA Dental Association, member of the Louisiana Dental Association Council on Insurance, was on the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Dental Association, past president of LDA, was a ADA Delegate, member and chairman of ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation, member of Pierre Fauchard Academy, International College of Dentists, American College of Dentists, and received the Northeast LA Dental Association’s Distinguished Service Award in 2010.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Evans Tarver; two sons, Justin Earl Tarver and wife Dana and Joshua Evan Tarver; grandson, Harrison David Tarver; mother, Barbara Monroe Lee; father, Earl Tarver and wife Robin; sister, Denise Hill and husband Tank; niece, Heather Johnson and husband Stewart; and nephew, Stephen Hill and wife Kristen Lee.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Pallbearers will be Mike Ryan, Dr. Mike Lary, John Perry, Lee Jefferson, David McKenzie, Junot Dixon, Dr. Kyle Jones, and Billy Husted. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Gary Roberts, Dr. Mike Nolan, Dr. Bob Spatafora, Dr. John Shepherd, Dickie Raymond, Steve Murray, Dr. Ralph King, and Joe Farr.
The family would like to give special thanks to their friend, Shannon Newton and the staff of St. Joseph’s Hospice.
