Daniel lived fifty wonderful years with his wife Kathy (a retired nurse anesthetist in Monroe), where they raised three children and became valuable members of the medical community. Daniel was a Jefferson Parish High School graduate, after which he enlisted in the United States Air Force, ultimately retiring with the rank of Major. He received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Doctorate of Medicine from LSU-NO Health Science Center. For over 44 years, he worked as a family practice physician and was regarded as a caring, honest, thorough, and knowledgeable doctor who put his patients’ needs first. In addition to his medical pursuits, Daniel was a devout church elder and session member at Westminster and Graceminster Presbyterian Churches, acting as choir director there for over 15 years. His love of music, especially jazz music, was intense and arose from his early years in New Orleans. His favorite past times include listening to big band music, playing jazz standards on the piano, and traveling to Europe to see new sites. For Daniel, happiness meant a ride in his green 1967 Ford Galaxy 500 car, a cold beer at the end of a long day, and a good meal with family around the kitchen table. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Hutton; three children, Daniel “Danny” Hutton, Jr., Amy Hutton Beder and husband Scott, and Melinda Hutton Melton and husband Jeramey; and his two grandchildren, Allie Beder and Evan Beder.
