Funeral Service for Dovie Lenard Parker, 90, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Luna Assembly of God Church in West Monroe, LA, with Bro. Joel Brackett officiating. Interment will follow in Luna Assembly of God Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until service time on Sunday.
Dovie was born on May 31, 1932 and passed away on August 3, 2022. Dovie worked at Bancroft Bag in her early years, she was a homemaker, and a member of Luna Assembly of God Church for over 50 years. After the death of her husband, Dick Lenard, she remarried Roger Parker. She was a loving wife, Mother, and “Mom” to all her family.
Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dollie Edwards; brother, Dexter Edwards; two sisters, Doris Hieman and Dorothy “Dot” Ott; her first husband, James L. “Dick” Lenard; son, Steve Lenard; and grandson, Caden Lindsay.
She is survived by her husband, Roger Parker; son, Clint Lenard and his wife Tonya; two daughters, Dovieta Broom and her husband Kelvin, and Darla Lindsay and her husband Mike; daughter-in-law, Cathy McGuire and husband, Aryon; ten grandchildren, Tobie Bryan, Amy Weeks, Heather Broom Holdiness, Matt Broom, Jordan Broom, Quint Lenard, Addison Lindsay, Bria Lindsay, Dawson Lindsay, and Emery Lindsay; ten great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law; stepson, Phillip Parker and his wife Deanni; stepdaughters, Beverly Loveridge and her husband Dave, and Kathy Hargrove and her husband Tom.
Pallbearers will be Matt Broom and Jordan Broom, Quint Lenard, Dawson Lindsay, Pistol Weeks, Ethan Weeks, and Wyatt Weeks.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Luna Assembly of God, the Alzheimer’s Association, or to a charity of your choice.
Dovie “Mom” was a true Proverbs 31 woman. She was hardworking, joyful, never complained and loved her Savior, Jesus. She was quick to forgive and forget. She loved her family and her home was always filled with love and laughter.
