Memorial Services Celebrating the Life of Mr. Douglas Farrell Salter, 65, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Fair Park Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Waymond Warren officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.
Douglas Farrell Salter, devoted spouse of over 43 years. Loving father and pop pop, was born on April 21, 1956, in Monroe, LA and passed away on October 2, 2021, in West Monroe, LA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Ammon and May Ola Salter.
Doug was the President of Pike Fraternity during his NLU college career. He served his community in numerous ways like serving the Monroe and West Monroe Chambers of Commerce. The majority of Doug’s career was spent with Graphic Packaging and most recently Angus Chemical. He loved his work. If his entire life could be summed up in a word it would be “service”. Whatever Doug chose to do, he did it well.
Doug had an adventurous spirit and knew how to find fun in any circumstance. He was always prepared or preparing for his next act of service or generosity. His legacy of cooking has blessed too many to count. The more you were around him, the more you desired his wit and comic relief. His passion for hunting, fishing, supporting his children and loving his wife leave us all inspired.
Whether you knew him as Pops, Dad, Friend, Husband, Doug, little Dougie, Brother or co-worker. He will forever be missed by us all.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Fortenberry Salter; children, Derek Salter (Madeline), Patrick Salter (Jami), Mackenzie Grassi (Jamie), and Sydney Gresham (Kyle); grandchildren, Kaylee Grassi, Emmy Yates, Zepplin Salter, Emily Salter, Maggie Salter, Daniel Salter, Corbin Salter, Benjamin Salter, Hazel Salter, Sue Salter, Nova Grassi and Luna Grassi; brother, Lloyd Ammon Salter (Linda); and sister, Brenda Salter White (Harold Ray).
Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until Service Time on Wednesday at Fair Park Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fair Park Baptist Church Building Fund.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the nursing staffs at West Monroe Guest House and Ascend Hospice for the care that was shown to Doug and the family.
