Funeral Services for Mrs. Dottie Sue Zeigler Cummins, 75, of West Monroe, will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday June 30, 2010 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Rev. Milton Pray officiating. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick Serenity Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
Dot was born November 1, 1934 in Eros, LA and passed away Monday June 28, 2010 at her home in West Monroe after a lengthy illness. Her parents were Elma Boatright Zeigler and Nicholas Hood Zeigler. Dottie Sue was a graduate of Ouachita Parish High School.
Married to Joe S. Cummins, her husband of 47 years, she spent the greater part of her life in Monroe and West Monroe where she raised her children and devoted herself to being a loving wife and mother. In her later years as she became a grandmother and the great-grandmother, she found hours of pleasure watching her young “children” grow and develop.
Dot was devoted to her family and friends and never missed an opportunity to do something for them. She is preceded in death by her sister, Yvonne Zeigler Bennett, and two brothers, Albert Zeigler and Lewis Zeigler.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Cummins; two daughters, Kelly Ann Doucette and Erin Paige Cummins both of Houston, TX; two grandchildren, Nile Nichole Hernandez and Whitney Aron Simpson both of Houston, TX; and blessed with three great-grandchildren, Garrett, Landyn, and Morgan Hernandez.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM Wednesday June 30, 2010 until service time at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that anyone wishing to make a memorial would do so to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 381101-9929.
