Tuesday, April 16, 2024, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA, with Rev. Ken Hofler and Rev. Eric Hotard officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.

Dottie Lynette Cartwright was born on June 12, 1947, to Grady and Emma Lee Jones. She went home to be with the Lord on April 12, 2024. Dottie grew up in Fort Necessity with her six brothers and two sisters. Later, she married Bill Cartwright, and they began their life journey living on South Third Street. Her first experience of working outside of the house was at Southside Coney Island. She grew to love the business and all the customers. After some years went by, she became the owner of Southside Coney Island. This became her heart. She enjoyed making her tamales and other food and visiting with all of her customers.

She loved spending time with her family and friends. Of course, all family events were planned on Sundays because this was the only day she did not work. She was known by many names including Cricket, Mama, Mawmee, Mis C., Miss Coney Island, Dottie Otti and many more loving names. She fed the paying customers and the ones with no money. She was loved by many. She will be missed dearly in the community. Her family and friends find comfort knowing that now she can speak, walk, and is in no more pain. She is now with her husband that she has dearly missed, and all her family and friends that have gone home before her. We love you so much and we will all be together again one day.

Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Emma Lee Jones; and brothers, Jimmy Jones, Joe Lee Jones, Aubrey Jones, Grady Jones, and Lee Roy Jones; and her sister, Aneta “Bobbie Nell” Bigelow.

Survivors include her children, Nikki Cartwright, Billy Cartwright, Jeannie Jones and Cathy Ragland and husband Darren. She was Mawmee to six grandchildren, Bradley Morrison, Morgan Morrison, Mindy Jones, Hunter Cartwright, William Cartwright, and River Cartwright; and four great grandchildren, Rylan Woodward, Nolan Woodward, Baxlie Crowell and Molly Crowell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; brother, Odean Jones and wife Peggy; and sisters-in-law, Elaine Jones, Gracie Jones and Joy Jones.

Pallbearers will include Rylan Woodward, Bradley Morrison, Jared Crowell, Shannon Massey, Marty Smith, Gipson Wilson, Tommy Cole and Bruce Manning.
