Dorothy Melbaline "Melba" Sills

Graveside services for Dorothy Melbaline (Melba) Sanderson Sills will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Kilpatrick Serenity Gardens West Monroe Louisiana, with Bro. Albert Lawson officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. to 1:30 P.M., Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

Melba (as most people knew her) was born on December 29, 1931 in Wheeler, Alabama and passed away on December 28, 2024, at her home at the age of 92.

She is survived by her three children, Mike (Sheerah) Sills of West Monroe, Jeff (Linda) Sills of Monroe, Susan (James) Thigpen of Calhoun; one grandson, Aaron Sills of West Monroe; one brother, Malcolm Sanderson of Colorado; one brother-in-law, Irving Sills of West Monroe, and one sister-in-law, Clara Nolan of West Monroe; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Melba was a faithful member of the West Monroe Congregation of Jehovah's Witness for over fifty years. She dearly loved the fellowship she shared with her spiritual Brothers and Sisters.

Melba worked alongside her husband Robert in his Upholstery Business for over fifty years. She loved sewing, cooking, and working in her flowers bed, along with traveling to the Smoky Mountains with her family, where she found lots of unique handmade treasures to bring home and share with their friends and neighbors.

Melba was preceded in death by her parents, Mattie Lou Hagood Sanderson and Henry Shirley Sanderson; brother, James Sanderson; sister, Shirley Sanderson Edwards; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Sanderson; sister-in-law, Geraldine Sanderson, sister-in-law, Patricia (Pat) McGee Sills; and brother-in-law, Sam Nolan.
