Dorothy R. Lenard

Funeral services for Dorothy R. Lenard, 87, of Swartz, LA, will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Loch Arbor Baptist Church in Swartz, LA with Bro. William Sikes officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mrs. Lenard passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2017. She was a member of Loch Arbor Baptist Church. After retiring from the restaurant business, she devoted herself to her family and church.
Mrs. Dorothy (or G-Ma, as she was known to many) enjoyed cooking, church and working with children and youth. Over the years, she spent many hours teaching and playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She crocheted, it seemed non-stop for many years. Her crochet-time was also her prayer-time, with every stitch she lifted up her requests to the Lord. Her greatest joy came from giving her afghans to those she loved, and there are many, many of her afghans around the community and countryside.
She is preceded in death by her husband, W.P. (Pete) Lenard, Sr.; her son, Steve Lenard; her parents, Lamar T. and Henry Faye Robinson; two sisters, Sarah Ferrington and Norma Lyles.
She is survived by: son, W.P. (Pete) Lenard, Jr. and wife Jan; daughter, Michelle (Mitch) Lenard, daughter-in-law, Donna; grandchildren, Allen Lenard, Crystal Thompson, Lynette Lenard, Laura Lenard-Holmes and husband Jack, Patricia Hart, Christy Holyfield, Michael Lenard, Prentice Lenard; and 10 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Allen Lenard, Alfredo Sanchez, William Whetstone, Terry-Lynn Rieger, Makin Shah and Heath Paris.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Loch Arbor Baptist Church in Swartz, LA.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Loch Arbor Baptist Church Children and Youth Ministries.
Special thanks to the staffs of St. Joseph’s Hospice, St. Francis Medical Center, Glenwood Regional Medical Center and Haven Home Health.
