Funeral services for Dot Kinnison, 80 of West Monroe, LA will be held at 4:00 pm Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery on Hwy 80 in Monroe, LA with Rev. Mark Fenn officiating. Ms. Kinnison was born on November 10, 2027 to Robert (Bob) Samuel & Emma Mae Horne Kinnison in Standard, LA and passed away Monday, March 17, 2008 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe.
As a physical therapist, Dot served in the Armed Forces from 1949 to 1959, the Cerebral Palsy Stuart Bacon Center as Director/Therapist and with the Ouachita Parish School System. She graduated from Northwestern University where she was on the homecoming court & a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority.
Dot was a fan of the NLU lady Indians basketball team attending most home games & watched all out of town games on TV. She was also an avid reader & crossword puzzle solver.
She has been a volunteer at the Glenwood Medical Mall since 1998, received her 1000 Mile Mall Walker Pin and was honored in June 2002 as Volunteer of the Month.
Dot is survived by her sister, Evelyn Blackmon & her husband Ed, nephew Larry Blackmon & wife Dency, niece Jan Mattingly & husband Dale, five Great Nieces, their husbands and children: D’Anne & Corey Bennett, Reid, Emma; Angela & Rob Hammond, Abbigayle, Garrett; Amy & Jeremy Many, Mase & brother to be; Ashley & Shannon Harper, Cam; Kinbur & Matt Gosling.
She was preceded in death by her closest friend, Louise Harris. A special thanks to Robert & Exa Harris, Teddy & Diane Harris, and Sonny & Margaret Burkett as well as all the Harris Family!
Dot’s beloved pets were like family to her. They are: her poodle Loki, and cats Aker & Squeaker.
Memorials may be made to the United Cerebral Palsy or the Humane Society.
