Dorothy Eldene Pumphrey was born October 28, 1925, in Kirbyville, TX. She peacefully departed to eternal life on October 19, 2018, in Monroe, LA
Eldene was raised in Farmerville, LA. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She and Dennis raised their family in a loving home with strong Christian values. Eldene was a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis Pumphrey; grandson, Lance Yates and sister, Joyce Odom. Eldene leaves to cherish her memories: son, Dennis Pumphrey and wife, Irma; daughter, Carolyn Bourgeois and husband, Keith and daughter, Amy Pumphrey. Eldene was blessed with many grandchildren: Ed and Michele Pumphrey, April Ayala, Amie and Dennis Jensen, Angie Pumphrey, Anne Elise and Nate Buckmister, Jason and Andria Yates, Jeremy and Erin Yates, Holly and Joey Trappey, and Ryan and Kate Hammock. Eldene was also blessed with 19 great-grandchildren, two loving siblings, Francis Acree and Gordon Weaver, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kitty Degree Breast Cancer Foundation or The Anna Gray Noe Sunday School class at First United Methodist Church.
A Memorial Service for Dorothy Eldene Pumphrey will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 27, 2018, at First United Methodist Church in Monroe, LA, with Dr. Lynn Malone and Dr. Terry Love officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time at the church.
