Funeral Services for Mrs. Dorothy Ward Williams, 66, of Monroe, LA, will be held 2:00PM Saturday, July 25, 2020, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Williams was born December 06, 1953, in Monroe, LA to the union of the late James and Velda Ward and peacefully departed this Earthly life on Sunday, July 19, 2020, at Christus St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in Monroe, LA. Dorothy was the tenth of twelve siblings.
At an early age she became a member of Morning Star Baptist Church of Clarks, Louisiana.
She graduated high school at Union Central in Columbia, Louisiana before moving to California, where she attended California State Northridge University. She was employed at Amwest Surety before becoming disabled. She bravely battled multiple sclerosis for more than 20 years. Dorothy enjoyed crafts and painting ceramics, listening to music, and watching westerns. Dot fiercely loved her family, she was a proud mother and grandmother.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, James William Ward and Velda L. Allen Ward; brothers, Henry Ward, Roger Ward, James Ward, Eugene Ward, and Jessie Ward; and sisters, Marilyn Harding and Clara Rollins.
She leaves to cherish her memories one son, DaVon Williams (Jessica) of Columbia, LA; two grandchildren, Jada and Gianna Williams; four sisters, Thelma Ward-Minger of Clarks, LA, Doris Ward-Robinson (Jobe) of Delhi, LA, Deloris Ward of Long Beach, CA, and Janice Ward-Walker (Bobby) of Clarks, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
We, the family of Dorothy Ward-Williams would like to express our sincerest gratitude to the staff of St. Joseph’s Home for years of loving care. We also deeply appreciate the care received throughout the years from Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care, Dr. Brian Krier, and the providers at Sterlington Rural Health Clinic. We would like to acknowledge all acts of kindness shown during the illness and loss of our loved one. Your outpouring of love, prayers, calls, and visits have been a blessing to us. Thank you.
