Funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Dorothy 'Dot' Pounds Korn, 86, of Monroe, LA will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA with Rev. William Smith officiating. Interment will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Korn died January 5, 2016.Mrs. Korn was born on December 16, 1929 in Monroe, LA. She received a Bachelors Degree in Education from Louisiana State University in 1950 and taught mathematics for several years before becoming a full-time homemaker for her 4 children and husband. She taught Sunday School and was very active in Womens Ministry in many of the churches she attended when Mr. Korns job with Tennessee Gas Pipeline took them to new locations. She was an accomplished seamstress and excellent cook, and will be remembered for her gentle spirit and graciousness by all who knew her.She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Otis Dempsey Korn; and her parents, Ernest Boyd and Helen Edelen Pounds.Survivors include children, Frederick Boyd Korn and wife Jill of Monroe, Donald Wayne Korn and wife Patricia of Monroe, Peggy Jean Korn Moore and husband Frank of Corryton, TN, and Linda Sue Korn Levy and husband Nathan of Baton Rouge; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters, Margaret Graham of Houston, TX, and Nancy Cox of Kenner, LA; and a special sister-in-law, Audrey Johnson of Harrisonburg, LA.Pallbearers will be her grandsons.Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 PM Saturday at Mulhearn Funeral Home.The family would like to extend a special thanks to Shalia Hollenshead and Angelia Walters for their loving care of Mrs. Korn. Memorials may be made to Lakeshore Baptist Church in Monroe.
