Funeral Services for Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Cummings Durham, age 82, will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 24, 2010, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe with Dr. Alan Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
Dorothy was born January 31, 1928 and passed away on February 21, 2010 after a short illness. She was born and raised in Monroe, LA and known to friends and family as Dot. She married Sonny Durham and their family was completed with their son Ragan. Dot worked in her younger years for the telephone company and later worked until her retirement for Manville, which is known today as Graphic Packaging, as a sales service associate.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Emma Cummings; her husband, Warren “Sonny” Durham; her brother, B. F. Cummings; and her sister, Opal Jones.
Dot is survived by her son, Ragan Durham and wife, Carol of Monroe, LA; three grandchildren, Joshua Durham of Dallas, TX; Matthew Durham and wife, Stephanie of Monroe, LA; Mark Durham of Monroe, LA; many nieces and nephews; along with special friends, Charlie and Celie Flynn.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Joshua Durham, Matthew Durham and Mark Durham; nephew, Bobby Jones; friends, Billy Wall and Charles Flynn.
Honorary Pallbearers will be nephews, Butch Beckham, Jerry Beckham, Randy Beckham, along with lifelong friends, Charlie Flynn and Herbert Lutz.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 23, 2010, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Seeker Springs, 1280 Okaloosa Road, Eros, La. 71238.
