Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Graves Martin, 89, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, January 21, 2017, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Road Monroe, LA with Rev. Gerald Lewis and Rev. Butch Pilcher officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, Monroe, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Doris was born on July 31, 1927, and passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, surrounded by her family. She loved being a stay at home mother taking care of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She cherished the time she spent cooking for her family and all of their friends. Her home was a haven and always open to everyone. Mrs. Martin grew up as a pastor’s daughter and throughout her life was very active in many church organizations, from teaching Sunday school to even preaching services. If anyone needed prayer they could always call on “Granny”. She would pray and uplift them while teaching where in the Bible it was written about the circumstance it applied to. She was a member of The Assembly in West Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Martin is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Curtis Webb Martin and by her siblings, Lessie Pruden, E.J. Graves, Jr., Aaron Graves, and Mary Middleton.
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Martin Breland and husband, Gary of Monroe, LA; granddaughters, Dawn Breland Buzzanca and husband, Joe and Shelli Clark Pierce and husband, David; great grandchildren, Sarah Mulhearn, Tori Martin, Allie Martin, Landon Martin, Derek Pierce, Connor Pierce, Brandon Buzzanca, and Kyle Buzzanca; great great grandsons, Jay Martin, and Grayson Johnson, who will make his arrival into this world on Monday; sister, Bessie Shaw; brother, John Graves; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Neil Shaw, Larry Shaw, Dennis “Tiger” Pruden, David “Dabo” Graves, Jimmy Cerda, and Mark Honeycutt.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until service time on Saturday at Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Road Monroe, LA
