Dora Deane Sims

Funeral Services for Dora Deane Howington Sims, 96, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00PM, Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Pleasant Hill Church with Bro. Thomas Peoples officiating. Interment will be held in Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

Dora was born on April 14, 1925 in Wisner, LA and passed away on October 15, 2021 in West Monroe, LA. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Church, but recently attended First Baptist Church in Wisner. Ms. Sims was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Leon Sims; parents, Prudie and William Howington; and brothers, Charlie, Clarence, and Luke Howington.

Survivors include her son, Phillip Sims and wife Alma; daughter, Barbara Fontenot and husband Warren; grandchildren, Benny, Alicia and Nathan LaGrone, Paul Fontenot, Mike Sims. Karla Bendily, and Lisa Sims; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a special lady who Mom couldn’t have made it without, Mrs. Lulu Johnson, who did everything for Mom and we thank her very much.

Pallbearers will be Benny LaGrone, Nathan LaGrone, Paul Fontenot, Mike Sims, Josh Sims, and Daniel Sims.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Church.

Visitation will be held from 12:00PM until service time at the church on Tuesday.
