Donald R Scarbrock

Funeral Services for Donald R. Scarbrock, 89, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, April 6, 2024, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA with Dr. Mark Fenn officiating. Interment will follow in Kilpatrick Serenity Gardens in West Monroe, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 12:30 P.M. until the time of service on Saturday.

Donald was born September 3, 1934, to Bert and Geraldine Scarbrock in Bogalusa, LA, and passed away March 29, 2024, in Monroe, LA. 

Don was a private first class with the 32^nd field artillery battalion and infantry division in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. He also spent his time serving as a morse code operator as well as played baseball as a catcher at Fort Riley, Kansas, a commercial pilot, and an industrial electrician. Don’s hobbies included being a ham radio operator with call letters WA5GPF and being a past member of Experimental Aircraft Association. Don was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved gardening and horticulture such as grafting trees, plants, and raising plants from cuttings. Don was fond of being outdoors doing anything he could. 

Don was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Scarbrock; parents, Bert and Geraldine Scarbrock; brother, Rodney “Butch” Scarbrock; and sister, Patricia Quina. 

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Barbara Smith Scarbrock; daughters, Delores Oliver, Karen Edwards, Anita Scarbrock, and Adopted daughter, Brenda Fulford; grandchildren, Mack Oliver, Jr., Catherine Oliver, and Michelle King ( Keith); and great grandchildren, William King and Gabby King. 

Pallbearers will be Mack Oliver, Jr., Randy McCarty, William King, Keith Mathis, Kelly Mathis, and Bobby Manes.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Phil Eichler, Bill Mathis, and Richard Smith.
