Mr. Donald McAdam Brant, 97, died on Sunday, June 23, at his home in Monroe, Louisiana. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel, 2308 Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Reverend Warren Eckhardt, Associate Pastor, North Monroe Baptist Church, officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM, preceding the service. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, Highway 80 East Monroe.
Mr. Brant was born in Appleton, Arkansas, on June 28, 1920. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clive and Bernie Brant; his wife of 74 years, Juanita; and two brothers, Jimmy and Boyd.
Survivors include on son, Don and wife, Brenda; two daughters, Jane Nichols and husband, Jimmy, and Judy Palmer; by a sister, Betty Vandergriff and husband, Bobby; and by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.
A member of the greatest generation, Mr. Brant proudly served his country in WWII, enlisting in the Army Air Force shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He became a night fighter pilot, and was stationed in Okinawa, where he flew numerous missions over Japan. Following the surrender, he was stationed in occupied Japan for a year.
Mr. Brant was employed by Commercial Union Insurance Company, as an Insurance Adjuster. He was an active member of North Monroe Baptist Church for many years.
Mr. Brant was a loving father, a kind and giving man who volunteered his services in many ways well into his 90’s. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
