Funeral services for Donald King, 76, of Monroe, will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, Sep. 26, 2015 at Swartz First Assembly of God with Rev. Gerald Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe.Mr. King was born Sep. 29, 1938 in Marion, LA and went to be with his Lord, suddenly, Tuesday, September 22, 2015 in Monroe. He was a former building contractor for Don King Builders, a former employee of Rogers Manufacturing, and was retired from the Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of Swartz First Assembly of God Church. Don was a faithful husband, loving father and grandfather, and a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. He was a skilled builder and a talented musician and singer, with an infectious sense of humor. Don King will be remembered for generations for his kindness, his gentle spirit, and his love for his Heavenly Father. They don’t make ‘em like that anymore! Mr. King was preceded in death by his parents, Bynum and Mary King; brother, Ted King; great-grandson, Elijah Maximos Boozer; and son-in-law, David Isbell.Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Linda Gills King; daughters, Debra King Isbell, and Penny King Morris and husband Carl; son, Marty King and wife Becky; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Gary Morris, Marcus Coats, BJ Welch, Christopher King, Ethan Boyer, Justin King, Isaiah Boozer and Joshua Boozer.Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, Saturday morning at the church, 1503 Highway 139, Monroe.
