Donald Duane Sundquist, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, August 10, 2014. He was born in Lisbon, North Dakota to his parents, Edward Peter and Hazel Laura Loomis Sundquist. At 14 years of age, Don moved with his family to Kelso, WA. He enlisted in the Air Force and served in Austria during WWII and after returning home worked for Simpson Lumber Co. In 1950, he married Laura Faye Ford, whose family came to Washington from DeRidder, LA. A son, David Duane, was born in 1957 and, on May 7, 1963, Laura died after a brief illness. In 1967, he married Jacquelene Miles Sturtevant and they moved with their blended family to Crossett, AR., where Don was a Supervisor in the plywood division of Georgia-Pacific.Don was promoted to Superintendent of the new G-P plywood plant that was built in Urania, LA and was later promoted to Plant Manager, serving in that capacity until 1979. After that, he served as Plant Manager in Savannah, GA, moving on from there to Hawthorn, FL, where he oversaw the construction of the first computerized plywood plant and was Manager of that plant until his retirement in 1989.Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who is loved dearly by his wife and family. He had a great positive attitude and always a smile to greet you.Don was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Laura, two brothers: RuSearle and EdwardSundquist, five sisters: Geraldine Bock (Lawrence), Beryl Brunton (Bert), Winnifred “Bobbie” Faldick (Tony), Phyllis Mumpower (Ben), Betty Burns (Byron), and one great-grandson Denton Dahl. He leaves to cherish their memories of him, his wife of 47 years, Jaquelene (Jackie) of Monroe, LA, his son: David Sundquist (Betsy) of Wichita Falls, TX, four daughters: Sharon Kraus (Jim) of Portland, OR, Luanne Miller (Jimmy) of Jacksonville, FL, Iris Olden (Danny) of Georgetown, LA, Carol Shaw (Rick) of Monroe, LA, two sisters: Shirley Pierce, of Riverside CA, Sandra Smith (Dale) of Longview, WA, thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren.The family would like to thank Dr. Keith White, his assistant Phillip Miller, Dr. David Barnes, Dr. Emille Barrow, Dr. James Eppinette and Special Nurse Leeann Tanner and Premier Hospice for their care of Don over the past 3 years.Funeral Service for Mr. Sundquist will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 also on Wednesday.
