Graveside services for Mr. Don Corbin, 76, retired real estate appraiser of Monroe, LA., will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the Hasley Cemetery Pavilion in West Monroe, LA., under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home.

Mr. Corbin was born September 28, 1947, in Monroe, Louisiana, and passed away on February 26, 2024. He was a graduate of Ouachita High School Class of 1965. He signed with Northeast Louisiana State College to play baseball and was drafted to the United States Army in 1967. He served with the 1st Air Cavalry Division 12th Calvary 2nd Battalion A Company 1st Platoon. His proudest achievement other than his two sons was that he was promoted to squad sergeant in June 1968, and led his men for eight months and suffered no enemy inflicted casualties. He returned home February 1969, and went back to work at his former employer, The YMCA, and graduated from NLU with a degree in business management. He joined the Monroe Police Department in 1973, and became the training officer, and then left the police department in 1980. He went to work in 1980 at Monroe Building and Loan as the personnel director. In 1984, he went to work as a real estate appraiser until he retired in 2019.

 He loved fishing and all sports. He always said, “His favorite place was his chair in front of his t.v., his snack table, his refrigerator, bathtub, and the roof over his head.”

He was preceded in death by his father, William Allen Corbin; mother, Fannie Crawford Corbin; sister, Sue Corbin Davis; brother-in-law, Thomas Edwin Davis; sister, Marilyn Corbin Tittle; nieces, Allyson Ann Parker and Ashley Davis Owens.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, James Wade Corbin and Thomas Andrew Corbin; brother, Mark Corbin and his wife, Annette; brother-in-law, Bill Tittle; and nieces, Sharlotte Davis Thomas, Ainsley Davis Ingram, and Whitney Corbin Ramsey.

 The honorary pallbearers are members of 1st Platoon A Company 2nd Battalion 12th Cavalry 1st Air Cavalry Division that served February of 1968 to February of 1969.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
