A memorial service for Dolories “Tency” Pitman Tarver, 88, formerly of Monroe, Louisiana will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Monroe with the Reverand Jonathan Wagner officiating, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Monroe.
Tency was born on June 19, 1936, in Rayville and passed away on January 1, 2025, in Shreveport. She graduated from Rayville High School, Class of 1954 and from Louisiana Tech, Class of 1958. At Louisiana Tech she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority.
During her career, she worked at a number of places and retired from Riverwood International Corporation (now Graphic Packaging). At Riverwood she served as the Human Resources Manager at the Carton Plant and at the time of her retirement, she was the Corporate Manager of Health, Safety, and Workers’ Compensation. She served on several paper products manufacturing industrial boards and committees. She established DPT Photography in 1989 and developed a successful photography business specializing in sports photography and weddings. She was a member of Chapter AE, PEO Sisterhood.
Growing up she was a member of First Baptist Church, Rayville and later joined First Presbyterian Church, Monroe, where she served as an Elder. She also served on various committees in the church and as Moderator of the Presbyterian Women for several years. Later in life she joined Covenant Presbyterian Church where she was a member until her death.
She was most proud of her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild. She would tell stories of their accomplishments to anyone who would listen. She loved attending school plays, golf tournaments, tennis and soccer matches, and football and baseball games. There were always plenty of photographs taken at each event.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tatum Henry and Fannie Bell Dear Pitman; sister, Gloria Pitman Pardue; and brother-in-law, Guy Cecil “Buddy” Pardue.
Survivors include her daughters: Cherie McDonald and son-in-law, Jody, Cynthia (Cindy) Lott and son-in law, Greg; grandchildren: Tanner McDonald (Ashley), Kasey Johnson (Blake), Henry Cole Lott, and Mary Helen Lott; great-grandchildren: John Kirby McDonald and Baby Johnson (due in March); and longtime friends: Brenda Rohner and Rich and Linda Bailey.
Pallbearers will be Tanner McDonald, Henry Lott, Blake Johnson, Guy Pardue, Fred Franklin, and Scott Franklin.
A reception will be held after the memorial service at Covenant Presbyterian Church.
