Derek Alvin Wallace

Funeral services for Mr. Derek Alvin Wallace, 45, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 25, 2022, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA, with Rev. Tim Mosher officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until time of service.

Mr. Wallace was born September 24, 1976 and passed away on February 20, 2022 in Monroe, LA. Derek possessed a God given ability for sports, but his favorite sport was baseball. Derek was loved and known as a gentle giant with a heart as big as he was. He was a quiet person, a man of few words, that had a deep love for his family and friends. Derek will always be remembered for his kind spirit and gentle heart.

Derek was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alvin and Cora Mae Wallace, and maternal grandparents, Bill and Nova Matthews.

Derek is survived by his parents, Donnie and Sandy Wallace, and brother, Donnie Jr. He is also survived by a special niece, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him.

Pallbearers will be Matt Rasco, Jason Laffoon, Corey Coon, Brandon Parker, Brian Green, and David Summersgill. Honorary pallbearers will be his cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter in West Monroe, LA.
